Mi Capi Eterno
Siempre besando el escudo del Real Madrid porque amabas a este club con todo tu corazon. Nunca pense que algun dia dejarias de besarlo.
Always kissing the Real Madrid badge because you loved this club with all of your heart. Never would I had imagined one day you'd stop kissing it...
Last year I experienced Tom Brady leaving the Patriots. In 2018 I experienced Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid. Both departures were very devastating to me, but I managed. Look at me, and I am still alive and somewhat thriving (not really). Not too long ago, I found out some more heartbreaking news. Probably the most painful information yet even compared to the American football goat and the football goat.
Sergio Ramos left Real Madrid. If you were to tell me this five years ago, I would have laughed in your face and called you 'delusional'. See, I saw Real Madrid, and I saw Ramos, I saw Ramos, and I saw Real Madrid. There could not be one without the other.
I had left my phone in the other room, and once I went to get it, I saw the news. My heart broke. I started crying, and my mind went directly to the Champions League Final in Lisbon. Just thinking about it right now, I am getting teary-eyed (shocker, right? haha).
The Champions League final in Lisbon will always be one of the most significant sports moments I ever got to witness. Not to mention the game before this one in which Ramos had a fantastic game as well, helping us make it to the final. When I say I genuinely grateful to have seen that game, I am not even exaggerating. If you are familiar with football or not, being down one goal is a vast deal, especially during a final and with little to no time left... but then your captain does the most fantastic thing a sports star can do and does the equalizer in the 94th minute of the game. As it was about to end, taking the game to extra time. I mean cmon, what else could a captain give you? How could I not be grateful for this man for all he has done for this club.
In 2016 Real Madrid went to the final once again. My favorite lineups included the goat (CR7), Benzema, Bale, Kroos, Modric, Casemiro, Marcelo Ramos (C), Pepe, Carvajal, and mi Querido (my loved) Keylor Navas. I mean, the anticipation for that game was insane as well as every other final. This time was also going up against Atletico de Madrid. Sergio Ramos scored the first goal of the game. My defender and Captian are always doing what he can do in such an important match.
These games are one of the many moments in which Ramos has shown the magnitude of a player. If I mentioned all of the moments he has given us, this post would be multiple pages long.
Frankly, I am unfortunate to see him go and now play for PSG. As long as Real Madrid is not in the competition, I will be supporting him until the day he retires and even after that.
Ramos will go down as my favorite captain of all time, my favorite defender of all time, and my favorite Spanish player. I know many people hate him, but I adore him, admire him, and wish him nothing but the best. And if these people had a chance to have Ramos in their team, they would take the chance in a heartbeat.
Sixteen years, 16 seasons he dedicated to Los Blancos, and he had one of the best runs with this club, leaving with five league titles, four UCL titles. Like my dad says, Ramos is one of the complete players you could ask for. Some footballers even claiming Ramos to be "One of the toughest opponents I've come up against."
Como Sergio no habra otro, te lo prometo. Like Sergio, there won't be another one, I promise.
Gracias Capi. My eternal Captain.
